Vivo pledges support for Microsoft's NetShow
By Maria Seminerio

Vivo Software Inc. today announced it will provide support for Microsoft Corp.'s NetShow multimedia platform in the next version of its VivoActive Producer streaming audio and video tool.

Multimedia applications for the Internet and intranets created using VivoActive Producer can be hosted on and transmitted from NetShow servers, Vivo and Microsoft officials said.

VivoActive Producer is a World Wide Web media post-production tool enabling Webmasters to integrate low-bandwidth streaming video and audio into HTML pages on Web sites. More than 850,000 copies of Vivo's VivoActive Player have been downloaded to PC and Power Macintosh users for viewing Web video content, company officials said.

VivoActive Producer will at first support NetShow users creating multimedia content on Windows-based systems. Support for the Power Mac platform is in the works, company officials said.

Beta copies of the VivoActive Producer for NetShow will be available for download within the next 30 days on Vivo's Web site at www.vivo.com/. General availability is planned for first-quarter 1997, and pricing will be $995.

Vivo is based in Waltham, Mass.
