Lotus Development Corp. has added to its imaging extensions and services for Notes 4.5 clients running on Windows 95 and Windows NT platforms with the release of its Lotus Notes:Document Imaging Professional Edition Client (LN:DI Pro 4.5).
LN:DI Pro 4.5 is a 32-bit imaging solution providing image extensions and services, including scanning, desktop-based optical character recognition, and annotation capabilities to Notes users on Windows 95 and Windows NT, Lotus officials said.
The solution provides a single platform for messaging, application development, imaging and workflow applications, officials said.
When used along with the Lotus Image Viewer, the product enables users of all Windows-based Notes clients, including Windows 3.1, to view, print, mail and fax documents from Notes databases. The Image Viewer is available for free download at www.lotus.com/.
Future versions of LN:DI Pro will feature closer integration with Lotus' Domino Internet and intranet technologies. Through Domino, the core imaging capabilities of LD:DI Pro will be extended to the World Wide Web, providing a solution for incorporating paper-based documents into Web-based applications, Lotus officials said.
The product requires 12 free M bytes of RAM and supports more than 50 different scanner products.
LN:DI Pro 4.5 is available immediately from Lotus Business Partners and authorized resellers at a price of $89.
