STB buys Symmetric
By Margaret Kane

STB Systems Inc., one of the larger suppliers of multimedia accelerators, will acquire Symmetric Inc., a manufacturer of three-dimensional graphics boards.

Symmetric, based in Dallas, will be a wholly owned subsidiary of STB and will keep its management team. STB will continue to use the Symmetric name and product line. Symmetric will focus on marketing its product to OEMs and value-added resellers, while STB will market the products to its own OEMs.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

In a statement, Perry Copus, Symmetric's president, said being acquired would give it access to first-tier hardware vendors and STB's manufacturing.
